ABOUT.
I'm Michael W. Thompson, an Online Media Professional. Based in Toronto, I specialize in social media, video production, graphic and web design, and interactive art.
My artwork incorporates elements of performance, choreography, and narrative into the technological world. With influences ranging from the prose of Michael Ondaatje to the Canadian Clowning Technique developed by Richard Pochinko, my work blends traditional high art with stereotypically lowbrow culture.
Last year I was the Community Director for Cinema Out of Your Backpack, an online DSLR film festival based in Germany. More recently I was responsible for the graphic/web design for the Canadian-produced web series Living With Larry. I have also volunteered as a CSS/HTML Mentor for Ladies Learning Code and worked as a technician for Gearwerx Experiential Media.
Most recently I finished a Web Design Internship for thirdocean where I designed their Retail Currents report, including a full rebranding. While interning I was also working for the Toronto International Film Festival as a Facilitator in their digiPlaySpace.
